VZPforForeigners.cz was first to introduce PVZP Comprehensive health insurance to the Czech Republic in 2005, to serve the needs of foreign students and residents to comply with Schengen Visa requirements.
Currently we offer to variants of Foreigners Comprehensive Health Insurance:
Comprehensive Plus
and
Comprehensive Exclusive
Both offer nearly the same benefits and same network of hospitals and doctors, are priced similarly but have important legal differences with regard to pre-existing conditions and the right of guaranteed continuation of coverage regardless of medical condition.
Comprehensive Plus
-
policy approved and documents delivered immediately
-
pre-existing conditions are not covered
Comprehensive Exclusive
-
policy approval is subject to medical review and documents take 1-2 business days to deliver
-
pre-existing conditions are covered
-
insurance rate may be increased based on our medical review
PVZP has published this grid to illustrate the similarities and differences of the
Comprehensive Plus and Comprehensive Exclusive health insurance plans in the Czech Republic. Please refer to the terms and conditions links below for both plans’ complete policy details.

*Urgent medical care refers to treatment aimed at preventing or minimizing sudden conditions that pose an immediate threat to life, could result in sudden death, cause serious health risks, or lead to sudden, severe pain or abrupt changes in a patient’s behaviour that may endanger themselves or others.
Necessary medical care involves the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute conditions that require immediate or very prompt attention.
The exact scope of coverage can always be found in your insurance policy terms and conditions.
Important notice regarding insurance
Health Questionnaire – Must be completed truthfully and fully
When arranging insurance (especially the EXCLUSIVE type), it is necessary to complete the health questionnaire truthfully and completely. Providing false or incomplete information may result in a reduction or denial of insurance benefits, or termination of the insurance contract by the insurer.
All medical procedures and materials not covered by public health insurance are also not covered by foreigners’ health insurance.
This applies, for example, to:
-
Non-standard dental procedures and materials (e.g., white fillings, crowns, implants),
-
Cosmetic procedures (e.g., plastic surgeries without medical indication).
A high insurance indemnity limit does not mean that all medical care is covered. Coverage applies only to services included in the public healthcare system and within the scope of the insurance policy terms and conditions.
